Wow, I don't even know where to begin. How different the world was back then, innocent and naive. I chuckled at most of the things he was saying. With elections happening in 2 days and everyone wanting change, the line about voting for the same great men over and over again made me cringe. I am glad that the education system no longer sugar coats our world to the students and most of our schools do a pretty good job of informing our students of the reality of the world around them.
Now a days, you need to watch what you say in a classroom. You really can not give your opinion on things like war or presidents. In the past, teachers had much more freedom to express their views - not saying that it was always good. Now we can't say "sit Indian style" we say criss/cross applesauce. We say chalk board instead of black board. I even get nervous when kids want to hug you because you don't really know all of the ramifications. There is so much more to being a teacher than just teaching.
A forum for students to share their initial field observations, comments on readings, and suggestions and recommendations from research on the web and elsewhere.
